Happy Holidays!

With the holidays upon us all, I wanted to spread some cheer in the best way I know how: music!

I asked some talented musician friends of mine to come by the newly renovated studio to make a quick video that would clash 2 different styles of the same song. The end result was pretty cool! Check out the video and enjoy!

Special thanks to:

This was the first project to be filmed in the brand new studio space. The renovation started earlier this year in March, and now that the space is far along enough to be usable, I'm open to booking portrait session, promo photo sessions, and music videos, as well as product photography and small business commercials. Check out www.DIGImmortalPhoto.com for more info and samples, and reach out to me via the website if you have any questions.

Photos from Gigantour 2013

DIGImmortal Photo: Megadeth 08-07-13 &emdash;

Just a quick update. I recently shot the mini-version of Gigantour 2013, the festival tour created by Megadeth's Dave Mustaine. This exciting for me on a personal level because in all my years shooting bands both big and small, I had yet to shoot one of my heroes, Zakk Wylde, until now.

E-Book Readers and Indie Bands

DIGImmortal Photo: 365 Project &emdash; Day 119 02-08-10 Feed the Piggy

So, I normally don't post things along these lines, but there's a first time for everything.

With the sudden boom in crowd-funding, lots of people are turning to sites like Indiegogo or Kickstarter to get their projects funded and off the ground. In exchange, they offer some cool perks/prizes/goods/services/etc in exchange for donations of certain levels.

I'd like to just mention 2 projects that are online right now and need funding, because I have or had something to do with each of them.

Creatives Are Scatterbrained

There, I said it. Creative types, regardless of your style or delivered medium, tend to be a little bit "off" in the organization and memory departments. While this is a generalization, I do tend to find that it fits most of the creative's I've met, unless they've already got a person or a team of people managing their time and attention.

This is something that I've had to try to manage myself for a long time, in fact, I'm so scatterbrained that my blog post about being scatterbrained almost didn't get written in a timely manner because I was also juggling other tasks and entertaining some new ideas while I was writing it, and I got taken off course for... say... hours. I'm not proud of it, but it is what it is, and it certainly drives the point that this needed to be written and expressed.

New Promo Video and Mailing List

DIGImmortal Photo: Blog Photos &emdash;

That's a Revere 40, and no, I don't shoot any video on that thing, but it's a really cool antique that belonged to my great uncle and I recently re-discovered it when going through some old things with my father.

The Importance of Color - Pt. 2

DIGImmortal Photo: 365 Project &emdash; Day 270 07-09-10 The Chain

Thanks for coming back and checking out Part 2 of my "The Importance of Color" entry. If you are finding this and haven't yet read Part 1, then follow this link to get caught up to speed.

Last time we looked at how color is used in the corporate world to direct your attention or send a subliminal message, and this time I want to show some of my own work and either explain how I've used color in a deliberate way, or how the color available suits a setting or message, especially in terms of live music performances. This entry will be a little less methodical than Part 1, so let's just get right into some examples, shall we?

The Importance of Color - Pt. 1

Having grown up in the printing industry prior to my experience as a photographer, it's safe to say I'm pretty well-versed in colors and their usage. For any kind of visual artist, knowledge of color is an absolute must, even if you're just a black and white sketch artist, you've got color in mind when you shade your gray tones. There is lots of info out there about color, and there are lots of different categories. For instance, you've got primary colors, secondary colors, tertiary colors complementary colors, analogous colors, neutral colors, warm colors, cool colors, calming colors, exciting colors, and tints and shades of all of them to hit everything in between. That's a LOT of color!
